Natalie B Coleman

Natalie B Coleman began her career in fashion studying in Limerick School of Art and Design continuing on to an MA course at Central St. Martins. After college the opportunity arose to undertake an internship with New York label 3AsFour. Before starting her own label in 2010, she gained further experience working as a textile designer in Iceland. Her first collection, ‘Damaged Goods’, hit the catwalks of both Berlin and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks.

Inspired by her surroundings, Natalie’s collection reads like a diary of her everyday and all the things she picks up along her way. Every so often she is caught by a fleeting obsession with something or somebody that she can’t shake; from the tale of the Beauvoir Beale’s of Grey Gardens to more currently the writer Doris Lessing. When starting a collection she starts out writing a story; the process can be different each time but she will always carry the mood of her current obsession throughout.

Natalie loves to work with silks and natural fibres and is currently working leather, hand painting and embellishment into her new collection. Greatly inspired by the perfection and delicate beauty of Carrickmacross Lace, unique to the area where she grew up, Natalie is working with the talented lace maker Martha Hughes on a couture wedding dress using over 200 hours of handmade Carrickmacross Lace and hand beading.

Like all designers Natalie hopes for the label to expand healthily and steadily into foreign markets, but moreover and to quote the designer herself “my main objective is to make beautiful clothes with unique prints that make women feel beautiful and special as they are”.

Natalie will be showcasing her Spring/Summer 2013 collection ‘Sarah’s Suitcase’ in Paris and New York this September. Find Natalie’s SS 12 collection in Bow . Her AW collection is coming up in Brown Thomas
